Most of the cattle breeding in Bolivia takes place in the Beni and Santa Cruz regions. Jesuits introduced cattle in 1675.

Bolivia has more than 40% of the total number of bird species found in South America. 1,374 species in sixty-two families, 20 endemic, 37 specialty species and 28 endangered species.

Historically, the traditional “Haciendas” in Bolivia were engaged in mixed livestock and crop production. Some of them were plantations, mines, or even business factories.

Since South American indigenous cultures have the winter solstice as the conception of the beginning of a new cycle of life, Aymara, Quechua (Inca), Likan Antai, Rapa Nui and Mapuche cultures celebrate the beginning of a new year with spiritual ceremonies.
