As Bolivia is one of the most inexpensive countries in the world, there are many bargains for foreigners with higher purchasing power currencies. Foreigners demand handicrafts, silver and gold particularly. Llama and alpaca wool-knitted and woven items are at least as good as those from Peru, but cheaper. Bolivia is also an excellent source of textiles, which vary greatly from region to region in style, technique and use. Liliana Castellanos and Beatriz Canedo Patiño are Bolivia’s most important high quality designers, specialized in alpaca and llama wool garments.
