OUTLINE: JATUN YAMPARA COMMUNITY / NATIVE AND CEREMONIAL CONSTRUCTIONS / CHICHERÍA / NATIVE WEAVING TECHNIQUES
Pick up from the hotel and departure to the community of Jatun Yampara located 23 km east of the city of Sucre. This community is one of the oldest living cultures on the continent, now supported by a project to preserve and protect the identity and artistic-cultural values of the Yampara culture. The Yampara culture seeks to be an autonomous people with indigenous self-government, to consolidate its own development in accordance with the principles it has to reach its course, with its own education because the educational system does not respond to its needs. The tour begins with a visit to indigenous textiles and native art ceramic workshops; This community is also part of the entire extension of the Yampara, Tarabuco and Jalq’as cultures that existed before the colony and maintained a mutual community in their habitat. Currently there are more than 7000 yamparas that participate in the festivities of Tarabuco and the Sunday fairs of Tarabuco. Its textiles are a world heritage site. Then visit small museums where tools, medicinal herb sauces called (Ck’oas), Andean flora and fauna, among others, are observed. Visit to a traditional home of the indigenous families of the place. Finally visit the Chichería or native bar where you can taste a traditional drink and then transfer back to the hotel.
