UYUNI SALT FLAT + EDUARDO ABAROA RESERVE (SIC UPGRADED)

OUTLINE: UYUNI / UYUNI SALT FLATS/ INCAHUASI ISLAND / EDUARDO ABAROA RESERVE / RED LAGOON / GREEN LAGOON / UYUNI
Day 1: UYUNI - COLCHA K
Pick up from the airport or hotel in Uyuni for the meeting with the rest of passengers. Departure to the Salt Flat visiting first, the Train Cemetery and the village of Colchani where one can see the extracting salt process and also some local handmade handicrafts. Continuation towards the first salt hotel now turned museum: "Playa Blanca". Visit the salt eyes; exit points of underground water, the salt hexagons adorning the desert with their geometric shapes and the piles of salt, attractive little pyramids made by the villagers of Colchani. Afterwards you cross the salt flats while enjoying the beautiful landscapes. Picnic lunch. Arrival at Incahuasi Island, located in the heart of the salt flat. It is the biggest from a group of islands that represent an isolated ecosystem. The island is populated by a giant cacti species that measures up to 12 meters high (26.25 feet), providing an impressive overview. Arrival to the salt basic refuge at Colcha K village. Accommodation in a private room.
The dry season in the Salt Flat begins in April and ends in November. This season is ideal for photography, playing with perspectives on the surface. The rainy season begins in December and ends in March. During this season, the entire Salt desert is covered by water, turning into one giant mirror where the sky is reflected. It is a surreal landscape where everything seems to float. This landscape is ideal for photography lovers due to the mirror effects that can be captured. We advise you to bring sandals to enjoy the warm water. During this season it is possible that the Incahuasi Island visit will not be available because of the flooding.
Day 2: COLCHA K - HUAYLLAJARA
Early departure towards the Chiguana Salt Flat: another small salt flat in the southern region of Uyuni. Continue to the Ollagüe Volcano's viewpoint, where you can witness its activity and a dramatic desert landscape. After that, we reach the "Joyas Andinas" or Andean Jewels: small lagoons that show the biodiversity within the region. Picnic lunch. Continuation towards the Stone Tree; silent witness of Earth's erosion and the pass of time, part of the Siloli Desert: a surreal flatland without vegetation that constitutes the entry point to the Eduardo Abaroa Reserve. Continuation towards the Red Lagoon: an amazing example of a diverse ecosystem in a totally desolated region. Arrival to Huayllajara village. Accommodation in a private room.
Day 3: HUAYLLAJARA - UYUNI
Early departure in order to reach the "Sol de Mañana" or Morning Sun Geysers. Its name derives from its abundant steam morning activity. Continue to the hot springs of Polques; hot water eyes that form due to the volcanic activity of the region. The Green Lagoon, unique for holding active microorganisms that give color to its water. Picnic lunch. Continuation towards the White Lagoon: another particular attraction with active microorganisms at an altitude of 4340 meters above sea level. Return to Uyuni through the Rock Valley: a group of big red rocks formations which form an interesting and surreal landscape. Finally we appreciate the Magic villages of Sud Lípez, the south region outside the Salt Flat; San Cristobal village is known for being a mining village, also Culpina K and Alota, small picturesque villages dedicated to quinoa farming. Arrival to Uyuni town and transfer to the Hotel.
